The thing is, the newchurch needs that old history to exist; so it is like a mirror of sorts. So the true Church is still visible, in a way.
The Shroud of Turin (photographed in negative, in the photo) is an indication of this. But I don't know all the details of that.
You are right. That is not the Church. Until people make the distinction (and it is vital) they cannot be saved, if they believe the lies.
